I see you live in Virginia…I was stationed there while in the Navy had a convertible Vet. I had the top down even in the winter. Only snow or rain prompted me to put the top up. The Z is a much more fun car than the corvette IMHO because the seating position is higher in relationship to the top of the doors. If you purchase the Z you won’t want to put the top up. If you do you’ll find it is still a great car but different. Nice and cozy feeling. You’ll find the stereo is great with the top up and the exhaust makes it’s own kind of beautiful music. The only minus is, you have two very large blind spots to your right and left and other cars, trucks and even small motor homes tend to drive right in them admiring your car.

IMHO if you buy the Z3 you will not ever be unhappy top up or down.
