I have a Toyota 4X4 to back up the MZ3 when required - ie if have to transport > 2 people or going bush. 90+% of the miles are on the z ; 99.99% with the top down. Here in oz it never gets really cold so the question is can you drive fast enough so the occasional downpour doesnt get in the cabin. In rainy traffic - buggar- put it up (electric helps here)
Hi,
Still dabbling about getting a Z3. My only long term experience with a roadster is the Miata. I can only say that IMHO the car really is not much fun with the top up. In otherwords, if it's dark and cold, I'd rather drive something else. The Miata just isn't interesting. But if it's warm and sunny, woo hoo! It's great with the top down. The dealer won't let me keep a Z3 for a week to find out what life would be like with it. :)
So, do you all still find excitement driving your Z3's knowing that the top needs to stay up due to the climate such as during very cold days? Or do you just drive something else until weather permits the top to drop down? My experience with my old '86 325es is that I ALWAYS wanted to drive it; sunny, raining, and snowing (yup, evening snowing). Probably why it has 220,000 miles on it. It's just so much fun.
Thanks,
George B. in Virginia
