I went to the BMW dealer yesterday to look for the new 3.0 roadster. I saw the aluminum trim kit in several of the 3.0 and I did not like it at all. I believe it was plastic (by touching it). it did not have any of the clear coat (like wood trim) and it looked dull. The saleman told me it was the same aluminum trim on the Z8 and let me take a look at his boss's black Z8. WOW!!!! what a car.... the Z8's interior is just AWSOME and the alu trim was far better than the 3.0

I am looking into leasing a Z3 next year and would like some feedback on the aluminum trim available from BMW. I did post a question previously on this subject, but I suppose I worded it incorrectly because the replies I got referred me to aftermarket sites (not something I want to look into with a leased Z3, even if I have the option of buying after the lease expires).

I own a Jag, and if you know anything about the brand, it is loaded with wood. I want something different. However, I have had the displeasure of experiencing "aluminum trim" before on a '96 Supra that a member in my firm owned. It was basically plastic with aluminum coloured paint - very cheap. My dealer says he's not sure what the new trim is like since he hasn't seen it. He'll be getting an M3 with aluminum trim, but not for a while. So, to make a long story short, can anyone tell me what the trim is made of and what it is like? Thanks for your help.
