It took the dealer about 20 minutes to install-they charged me $20 bucks but I think they were just being nice. It probably would have cost $40 normally. I used a 2.8 modified shifter which reduced throw by 20% and increased effort by the same amount. I chose this one because the lever only sits 1/4" lower than stock. with the coinholder in my car, any lower and it would have been difficult to shift. The shift is definately much shorter than stock but the best part is- the feeling through the gate is much more precise. Definately a worthwhile investment. IMO 30-40% reduction maybe a bit of overkill because of the extra shifting effort required. I would definately recommend the mod.
