I think you are entitled to something to offset this. The important thing to remember is that the cab's insurance company doesn't really want a law suit and/or legal fees. If they think you are capable of one and your request is reasonable, they will probably settle quickly.

Were you scarred? Where was the injury? Will it be covered by hair? Even so, it still may be visible after hair comes back. Disfigurement is also worth something.

I think most cabs these days are licensed owner operators that subscribe to a common dispatch. There are no deep pockets but you can probably get fair compensation.
