Ever notice how BMW staggers their model redesigns so that no two models gets released that'll possibly compete with each other in terms of price? For example:

7 Series redesign due '01 as '02 model,
5 series and Z3 redesign due '02 as '03 models
6 series due '04 as '05 models
Possibly new 3 series due '05 as '06 models.

It may very well be a coincidence(?sp) that the Z3, which is comparably priced with the 3 series, will get a re-design when the current 3 series (E46) line matures...Fourth year into E46 production. 5 series and X5 redesigns are staggered too...If BMW follows the 7 year redesign pattern, the X5 will be re-designed in '07, half way through the new 5 series production. Same as 7 vs 6 series?
