I know that the absolute worst place to add weight to a car is at either end. 65 pounds is a fair bit of ballast and when that weight transfers forward it certainly does not contribute to stability. It would seem to me that removing the weight would actually make the car feel more planted in a corner as there would be less weight transfer to unload the rear tires. What possible benefit could BMW see in adding weight at the extreme rear other than better bite on launch?
