Actually in my opnion it's not society that got us to this point but lawyers themselves.
Well, you told me not to take offense, so I will tell you the same thing when I tell you that this is one of the silliest, short-sighted opinions around.
Everyone complains about lawyers, until they themself are injured. Then, the first place they run is to a lawyer's office. Also, a lot of baseless lawsuits are avoided because lawyers aren't willing to take them. Noone ever talks about this screening aspect of the legal profession. Finally, no matter how slimy the lawyer, he or she has to convince 12 ordinary citizens that the plaintiff is entitled to some money. So why is it that the lawyer gets blamed rather than the jury? Finally, remember that there are at least two sides to every lawsuit. So, 50% of the time, lawyers are fighting AGAINST lawsuits.
I'll get off my soapbox now, it just irks me when people fall into the easy "blame the lawyers" mode. I think I will go drive my car and get the smile back on my face.
I'm not blaming lawyers for anything, except for being what they are. As for runnung to lawyers, well, they are a necessary, shall I say evil? In a legal dispute they're needed, and hence I will call on one, much the same as I will call on a plummer, a carpenter, etc., in the right circumstances. You get my drift. That doesn't mean I have to like them, or like what has become of them, and the extent they have bastardized the laws to make themselves needed.
Look, I just voiced my opnion, which I am entitled to, I'm not out for d dispute. At the same time I'm convinced that there are more people sharing my views then there are sharing yours. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the lawyer's doings.
