Dinan's article is good as far as understanding the theoretical problems of underdrive pulleys but doesn't use any hard facts. That is like saying "Drinking too much water will kill you". A true statement, but without numbers is ridiculous.
In actuallity it appears that a lightweight flywheel produces just as much of a harmonic imbalance issues a flywheel... check this link out ERT's Response To Pulley Claims. Dinan sells flywheels and not pulleys. So you judge why he says what he says. He could still be right, but you should make the call yourself.
Does anyone have one of these installed? is it worth it? how do they increase performance (hp/torque)? I have a 1998 2.8 and am looking into performance upgrades that are an alternative to the $5/6K supercharger/turbo upgrades. I've already done the intake/chip. Think I'm going to do an exhaust next, but what else would be a good idea for a boost without setbacks? I am aware that the exhaust isnt really a performance booster, but something i want to do.
My real question of course is about the pully. Should this be the next upgrade?
