I've cut dozens of audio CDs that generally play well (Sony, Maxell and Verbatim). I've noticed that as time goes by, the occurance of skipping increases, presumably due to the lens getting "dirty." I presume this because when skipping does increase, I use a high quality CD lens cleaner, and the skipping stops. Also, I seem t remeber reading somewhere that CD-Rs are more susceptable (than "commercial" discs) to skipping because the "pits' are not cut as deeply as they are on a "commercial" CD. Also, there's a lot of talk about how scratches on the data side can cause skipping/readability problems, but scratches on the label (reflective coating side) can do the same thing.

See if cleaning the lens will help . . . - Arn
