I checked this out before I ran my wires from the cell phone power. My dome light has only two wires running to it. And it dims on and off when power is applied. So I thought it would be an inappropriate power source. Does your dome light fade on and off? How does that affect the operation of your detector?

Take the litte clear plastic cover off the dome lite. Remove the bulb. You'll see two plastic tabs, one on each side of the dome lite housing. Push those in, you can then slide the entire housing out of its location in the I beam. This gets you access to the power wires. Tap into them. You can push your tap wires forward under the I beam to come out under the I beam lip at the window glass, then run them to your visor. It can be done in a pretty discreet way.

Yup. Thats what I did. Not hard at all.

can i hardwire a V1 to the dome light?

i read somewhere how to do it by going under the dash but this seems like a pain in the ass. can it be done directly to the dome?
