I have a 2000 2.3 with Premium package, including the wood interior. As some of you may have experinced, my shift knob kept coming off when I shifted into 2nd. The cause was the plastic inner sleeve of the knob had cracked in two places. This was happenign about a week after I bought the car (May '99). United BMW has made 4 attempts to replace the knob and each time they have tried to use the wrong knob. Once, I even got a knob that was the light poplar wood (almost yellow) of the X5!!! For now, I have a 6 speed //M knob from a 540. It is still too dark. Does anyone know the actual BMW part number for Original Equipment wood/leather //M knob? The dealer has already had their guys drive to my office twice with wrong knobs and I have been up their twice over the past few weeks. I'm starting get impatient.
