Best Rain tire, OK, the Sumotomos are cheaper and offer the same or better performance in the dry. BFG Gforce are the best dry tire. Every test it wins, it is a reasonable wet tire but if I lived in San Fransisco I would get the Bridgestones.

I have run the following tires on the Z3 2.8 and my M Roadster. Keep in mind that a tire has to wear off the protective shipping coating first before they start performaning, about 500 miles depending on use.

Best to worst (miles used)
Kumho Victor Racer (R compound)5k miles
BFG G Force 12k miles
Sumotomo HTRZ II 2k miles
Michilin Pilot Sport 14k miles
Bridgestone RE71 10k miles
Bridgestone Pole Position 12k miles
Bridgestone Pole Position 6k miles
Continental Sport Contact (Suck)
Dunlop SP8080 (Suck)
