Hi Guys,
For some reason whenever I am driving my 00 2.3 Z3 I end up going up to 4000 to 5000 rpm in the first three gears....
will this have any adverse effects on the engine as I am reving it up to 5000rpm in the first three gears

Thanks

No adverse effects at all. That's why it has a built in rev limiter which keeps you from over-revving (barring a mis-shift..) and a redline. Happy revving.
