Can this be so? I am in shock. I was told that they rebuild the speaker area between the seats (push it out & make it taller) install 2 smaller speakers replacing the factory stock. Replace the kick panel speakers, and the door speakers and install amps to power it all. They told me that it will look as good as new, but the sound is incredable and I would not lose any trunk space. I am not ready to do this, I am still shopping & thought I would run past you (the experts). I don't know what to do to improve the sound! I am not able to to any of this myself.
Thanks for your advice.

That's pretty cheap! I plan on having a stereo upgrade when I receive my 2001 3.0i and am expecting to pay around 3000. If you're not a stereo and audio buff though, you may not be able to hear the difference in the sound. If you REALLY like your music, I recommend the upgrade.
