I have a 2000 2.3 that I bought new in March. I have put just over 22,000 miles on my car and It has been a joy to own. The only problem I have had with my car is the drivers side seatbelt has started to wear into the seat when I take it off or put it on. I am not sure why this is happening. Other that that I love my car. I have been changing the oil ever three thousand miles with Mobil 1 because I drive more than most people. I expect to get at least 200,000 miles out of my z3.

I also have a 2001 z3 3.0i and I share some of the same concerns. I will not go into detail but I had the shift knob come off also. It was embarrassing at the time but now I find it funny. It has never come off again. Good luck with your car.
All,
I am a new owner of a 2001 3.0i and so far I have been
a little disappointed in initial quality of the vehicle after delivery. The first day I had it, the DSC light came on and would not go off. After discovery, it was determined the steering angle velocity sensor had bit it. It was replaced. Yesterday,
I am showing my brother in law the new ride and as I rounded the corner, the gear shift knob came off the stick and into my hand, talk about embarassing. I've only put 550 miles on it so far and have had other cars that have never had problems. Is there others out there with these kinds of things happening out of the gate? Any comments?
