You will have no adverse effects. If you want to acclerate hard, IMO the best point to shift is just after the torque curve begins to drop off rapidly. Your owners manual gives you the max torque point. A better way to know the torque curve is to dyno your engine, and you will have a visual graph of the curve. If you do it in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, you will see where the most effective shift points are.
