Yeah, what do you mean? Obviously the equivalent matter and energy must come out or Einstein was all wet, but it does make a big difference what particular molecules the fuel not converted to energy is composed of when it hits the atmosphere.

You said they did it to quote "improve" emissions which is entirely possible so maybe they did use the correct word. The only way to "reduce" them is by converting more fuel to energy (which more horsepower would equate to as long as there's no increase in fuel consumption). However the lower torque suggests maybe they didn't do that in the rpm range were it really counts --I haven't seen the torque/power curves so it would be hard to say.
