Your car sounds sweet, listening to you coming around the wall at 12 was awesome. One of the best sounding exhausts we heard all day. (maybe not quite as nice as the M3 Lightweight's, but damn close).

I can't agree with you more, it's all about the driver. BUT, to defend my honor, put equal drivers in an M coupe and 2.8 roadster, and I think the coupe would come out on top, it is bit stiffer, and has much appreciated torque and HP.

Toby and I went to Sears Point with the Golden Gate CCA Chapter high performane driving school this week end...and all I have to say is Yaaaahhhhhooooo...I now have a favorite track!!!

This is the last track in California for me to do as I have done Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Thunderhill and Las Vegas, and I thrilled to leave the best for last!! I was told that technically Sears was one of the most technical in the country and I know that first hand...The blind Apexes, blind exits, off camber, elevation changes, pavement material varriations, yada yada I could go on and on....but this track is Awesome...there are some spots that are very unforgiving as the walls are very close, but it is just an absolute hoot once you get it down...

The last session yesterday, I caught up with a train of 6 cars moving fairly well and there was about 30-40 seconds to the next car behind instead of comming into the pits to make room I talked to my instructor about making our own space by letting off the throttle after turn 11 up to turn 2 to make open track...then we strated to play with different lines in different corners just having a ball, and each time by turn 11 we'd be up with the train and do the same thing again....we did this for 6 laps and each time giving them more and more of a head start, and each time catching them before 11....what a hoot....the Z3 is more than well suited to this track as it is sooo nimble and threw turns 2 threw 8 and 11 there wasn't anything that could stay with us :)

I read the some of the thread below on hp, and all of you that think that more hp is so darned important...well I say lil ol 2.8 was passing M coupes with ease, sure hp does play a roll, but far less than you may think...I'll take my 2.8 with track tires over anyones M roadster or coupe on street tires any day....the biggest improvement that anyone can make is to get track time....your 1.9,2.3,2.8 or 3.0 is a better car than you are a driver, and a 2.8 driven at 80% of it's capability will have lower lap times than an M Roadster or Coupe driven at 60 to 70%.

Well I take it back...hp is important...but the hp between your ears is more important than what's on the other side of your foot :) Anyway Sear Point is a fantastic adventure and if anyone ever has a chance to do it...go for it, it is for sure my favorite track in California...I'll be working on putting the video on my web site in the next week or so, and I'll post when it is there....take care, and see ya at the track, Tom
