I put my name on the list for a 2001 M Roadster. Lease is up on my '98 2.8l in June. I figure M Roadsters will show up in mid to late Spring. It should be no news to any of you that the M Roadster production is a function of M3 sales. Actually, it's a matter of how many motors are available for the roadster with the M3 taking priority.
By the way, I managed to be first on the list for the new M. I find that hard to believe. I have no idea what pricing will be but in reviewing the costs on my leased 2.8, the shock will not be in any increase in MSRP. As many are finding out, lower residuals and higher finance costs are making these cars very expensive to lease. My guess is that the residual on an M Roadster will be about 58% on a three year lease. It may be cheaper to buy.
