BMW knows that there is a rough idle problem in many 1.9 (m44) motors. They can tweak the software a bit to try and smooth it out, but they've had limited success. Always use at least 92 octane gas, but fuel is not the problem. Try and avoid starting the car and then running it only momentarily - this can make the problem worse.Takke your car in to the dealer and have them check it. BTW, mine has been perfect and a strong runner.
