If you have the 96-99 Z3 bently manual, take a close look at the body section. Per the book, it looks like you can unbolt the rear 1.9 fenders and replace them with something wider. From what it looks like, there are at least 6 bolts that hold the fender to the frame.

If the rear fenders are replaced, then you will also have to replace the rear bumber cover and wheel well liners. You will also have to contend with the fact thatthe wider fenders were designed with a wider track in mind. That could mean new, wider wheels or longer bolts with spacers.

Assuming that the fender mounting points have not been changed in the last year, the new style rears could be bolted on. But then you might havr to get a new trunk lid.

The conversion seems very possible given enough money.
