2nd if so, what tire retailers have such a machine
Quite a few, even Discount Tires has them
3rd what kind of liner do the tires have that cause a puncture in the tread to be irreperable.
None that I am aware of, I had a nail hole patched in an M tire (Dunlop)
4th if i use other tires am I more at risk of being stranded
because of a puncture?
Without a spare, I dont see how the risk could be any higher
BTW, The Dunlops are by no means a runflat of any type, get hole it goes flat, thats the reason for the bead lock rims, hopefully it keeps your tire from coming off the rim at high speed when its flat
Didn't see anything in archives about this. My dealer told me that the design of ///M rims requires a special machine to mount and demount tires. I'm not exactly thrilled with his price on the michelines and would like to persue other options. He also told me there was some kind of liner in these tires and that the screw stuck in my tread caused a puncture that could not be patched.
The guy had me at a disadvantage as I could relate to the rim design and pseudo RunFlat etc, so I popped the 300 bones for for a right front skin. I feel like I have been taken advantage of, and if so, would like to avoid it in any future tire/rim transactions. regards, Bill
