I can tell you that a V1 can go through some real antics in a Z3 -- they are so well-known that you can send it back to Valentine and ask for the "BMW" mod and they know what to do with it.

When I first put my V1 in my Z3, it would reset every time there was some other current draw -- turning on a directional signal, stepping onn the brakes or flashing the headlights (OK, I'll admit the last two have something to do with owning a detector). I wonder of the Z3's electrical system is "dirtier" than most cars, and you are getting voltage spikes.
