O/T: Electoral College History, Pros & Cons (archive)

This is completely off-topic here, but given the national debate that is going on right now surrounding the not-yet-decided presidential election, I thought some here might like to peruse the following link. It contains a detailed history of our nation's electoral college, as well as a very thorough discussion of the pros and cons of the electoral college system which elects our president every four years.
