Here’s the “scoop” on the window blanket:

1. Z3’s are delivered from the factory to the dealer without a window blanket. (except for those Z3’s with a factory hard-top)
2. Most dealers put the window blanket in the trunk of the Z3 as a part of the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) procedure and are paid by BMW for the window blanket under defect code 72 60 77 77 BV.
3. Most sales people make sure that the window blanket is in the car and most sales people demonstrate its use.

Ask your dealer to give you a copy of Bulletin Number 54 04 96 so that you may draw your own conclusions about the window blanket issue. He should provide you with a copy upon request.

PS: This is the first “post” on the window blanket in quite a while which suggests that our efforts to inform all prospective Z3 owners about the window blanket “issue” have been partially successful.
