Speed Bleeders, Bogus? Bad? Are they Alive? (archive)

I have a set of Russell, Speed Bleeders that I purchased from Griots Garage. I have not installed them since Griots droped them as a product and Russell is not answering their phone calls. Did they go out of business? Do these things fail and you have no brakes?
