You must really be from a well-to-do neighborhood if you think that Z3s, even at the $32k entry level, are not considered upscale. Pretty pricey toy where I come from, anyway.
Though irrelevant, since we talked about it before, Harley Davidson does little tv advertizing, and no exceptional print ads either. They have probably the most totally defined market in the country, with NO competitors to speak of. A glitzy ad in Cycle will not make a Honda rider into a Harley guy. Now if you want to include mass market bulk rate accessory and clothing catalogs (aimed as much at wannabes as at real harley bikers), I'll grant you that the coffe mug and HD decal arm of Harley Davidson DOES advertize a lot...and there is gold in TMEM thar hills...but it doesn't sell a single hawg!
As to how long the Z3 line will last, your guess is no better than mine, and mine is no good at all! Can only milk this particular cash cow so long, and now that every trade pub is down on this antiquated car, sales will probably only continue to wind down...and advertizing, whereever located, will only be marginally successful until the model changes.
And for my final nickel's worth...whatever the new design is will almost certainly not capture whatever it is/was that this car had when it first came out.
