Check engine light? (archive)

My check engine light just came on today. It also snowed for the first time this year last night. Could that be the cause of it? Last time it came on, I took it to the BMW shop and they said it was because the gas cap wasn't situated right. Well, I have taken it off and put it back on several times and restarted the car and the light is still on. Is there anything else I can try???
