Contact Aaron@Tirerack.com and ask him for a set of Michelin Arctic Alpins mounted on 15" steel rims. It will cost you around $500, everything included. Within a couple days, you will have your tires. Just jack the car up, pull off the OEMs and put on the snows. You will be cutting through the drifts better than you can imagine!

For deep stuff, or when you are having some problems getting started, you want to turn OFF the traction control to power through. Just be careful and make sure you are comfortable handling a rear wheel drive car on the slippery stuff. If he is driving with OEMs, that shouldn't be a problem. Once you get going, put the traction control back on and away you go. The biggest concern I have driving in the snow is what the OTHER people are doing. I am perfectly comfortable with my Z's snow capabilities. And we have gotten about 20 inches of snow in the last week here in Wisconsin!
