I have removed and replace the center console. It is not a job for the faint-hearted but can be done with the proper instructions and preparation. Definately work inside in a heated garage with the top down. It will take about 3 hrs of work to remove the center console. You will cut your fingers up from working blind in small places. The hardest part is removing all the switches and wire harnesses. Having done it once, I could probably do it in 20 minutes now. E mail me for step by step instructions and hints, and especially if you get stuck. Once the console is out, swapping the aluminum parts is simple. Also, masking tape up everything while you are working on it.
