I insisted on a new window for the 97 I bought three weeks ago from the dealer. I read all kinds of stories on creases, so I bought the HMS Motorsport blanket. It has bean bag material sewn in where the window folds. I've had the top down all weekend(here in florida) and no crease. However, I did notice some internal scratchingt, so I've ordered an internal mat from Z3 solutions. I plan to have my top up and down all the time, so I think the internal and external protection are worth it.he window before I lower the top pretty much eliminates the crease. I just drape it over the window before I lower the top, and let it fall into place naturally as the top goes back. When I drop the top in a hurry and don't use the towel (like at a stop light), I find that the crease returns when the top comes back up a few hours later. This happens to me in both hot and cold weather... and I live in Vancouver, B.C. (Seattle-ish weather)
I think the towel prevents the plastic from bending in too tight a radius, but it stops the scratches and creases for me...
YMMV, of course...
