If you don't want to go the speed of the fast lane to pass perhaps you are part of the problem. That sounds like another way to say that you expect everyone in the fast lane to slow down to your speed so you can pass without going faster. If you move to a faster lane, you should meet that lane's speed not expect it to meet yours.

in fact in Oregon if you are not overtaking and passing traffic in the left lane it is a citeable offense. But I am not going to increase my speed when passing to please some...uh...lets say less than polite person who is behind me and can't stand waiting for me to pass. If I come up on traffic that is in the left lane overtaking traffic, I follow behind at a safe distance while they complete their pass. If after doing so then continue in the left lane, I pull to the left so I know they see in their side mirror that I want to overtake. If they continue on...I pull into the right hand lane and pass them...staying in the right lane until I need to overtake slower traffic. I "NEVER" flash my lights to order someone over. And the people that piss me off are the ones who do not even give you the chance to pull over.....they flash you from ten car lenghts back...as if to say...get the f$#@ out of the way important a#$hole coming......

My vent............
