Took the coupe to a local Michelin dealer and asked him about middle wearing faster and he said this is quite normal for a lot of factory sport cars. Why the recommended pressure is often too much for even wear he couldn't comment on. But he said as he was the local voice on my tire's warranty, I would be better off if I reduced the pressure 2 or 3 pounds down from around 31.

Well, at about 13,000 miles, with the last 9000 being run at 3 pounds under door sticker and owner's manual pressure, all four tires showed very even wear across the tread.

Maybe your Pilot Sport's should be run a few pounds below recommended pressure, too. You might check with a reputable Michelin dealer on this.
