Source for tach hookup...not BMW... (archive)

So I bought my wife this little Kia last year so the Z can be a garage queen. Anyway this little buzz bomb didn't come with a tach. I bought a little 2 1/4" Sun tach for it but it has a distributorless ignition system. It has 2 coils that fire 4 plugs. I hooked the ignition source wire up to one of the coils but the tach seems to be registering about half of what it sould be. (5000 only showing 2500 etc). Does ANYONE have any idea the source on this type of ignition system? I hate to go to the dealer...they're a bunch of unhelpful bozos. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
