When trading in my wrecked MZ3 for a new car the dealer offered me a 2.5 Z3 with steptronic, or a 3.0i with a manual. I drove both and could not stand the steptronic. Maybe its just me but I do not think an automatic should be installed in a roadster IMHO.

I've recently shopped around for a 2001 Z3, but, finding
a 5 spd manual to be very difficult. Most on the lot or
in production are steptronic. I would like to avoid
paying the $1200 or so for this option. Anyone with
thoughts between the two trannys?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
