When we went shopping for our topaz/beige 00 2.3 in mid-99, we checked 5 Bay Area dealerships and found only one manaul on a lot. I found a steel gray one at Concord BMW on a day when my wife wasn't with me. She didn't even get to drive a manual 2.3 until we took delivery after a 6 week wait. It was worth it though.

Despite the protestations of a few autotranny cult members, the vast majority of people on this board seem to prefer the stick. The $1200 really doesn't enter the equation.



I've recently shopped around for a 2001 Z3, but, finding
a 5 spd manual to be very difficult. Most on the lot or
in production are steptronic. I would like to avoid
paying the $1200 or so for this option. Anyone with
thoughts between the two trannys?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
