In Reply to: NC, Wake Co, >22 mph, first offence, what to do? posted by Bruce R on February 18, 2001 at 16:29:53:

I'm from NC originally and I had tickets too numerous to mention while I lived there. My first ticket (at 16 years old) was 74 in a 45 - and I was slowing down for a turn... The best thing you can do is get a lawyer. NC relies heavily on the buddy system. Lawyers and judges play golf... Get it? The $300 you'll spend on a lawyer will save you in the long run on insurance costs. I had a ticket continued for more than a year just to get it dropped to improper equipment. Just play the game and get no points. Pay the fine and get stuck paying inflated insurance.

I was caught doing 67 in a 45 zone in Wake Co, North Carolina, is there anything I can say or do to lessen the impact of the ticket? I have to go to court in April. This is my very first driving violation.

Thanks

Bruce R
