Dealers try to make you get optional "paint protection" for about $500.00.

I have heard that this is useless and a waste of money.

If you really want to protect your new car from paint chips and the like, get X-PEL which is a clear film that covers the paint. www.xpel.com.

Any advice on the final checkout with my local BMW dealer -- before closing the deal? e.g. Items I should have from them and are free to BMW buyers, etc.

I'm working off of a locate from the Chicago area (I live about 2.5 hours from ChiTown). (I'm trading in 2 cars -- so going to Chicago and dealing there is not possible).
