Metal "filings" are common in the oil of a NEW engine especially a small displacement engine. I will catch some flames from some experienced persons in this group - but actually, (I'm a mechanical engineer with 27 years experience) the metal "filings" actually aid in engine break in - in a way. Various components need to "seat" - the result are these filings. Be cautious of changing the oil TOO early - it actually could lead to oil burning and premature failure. - OH! for the Group Police - this is IMHO.
