In Reply to: *URGENT* Duking it out with the dealer. posted by Mr. Mike on February 26, 2001 at 11:28:12:

Accordeing to Edmunds, BMW has NO Holdback. Apparently my salesman is being straight with me.

If anyone knows if Edmunds is correct...PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

More to come.

I am in the middle of a bidding war on a 2001 2.5 (re: "The game is begun" below).

I have hit a sticking point with the dealer. He claims that there is no Factory Holdback on Z3s (a fee, usually about 2-3% from the factory to the dealer for selling the car aside from incentives). I find this hard to believe. If there is a Holdback he is trying to squeeze me for about $4k in profit. I am offering about $2k profit.

I am NOT opposed to a fair and reasonable profit. I AM opposed to being taken for a ride in the negotiating process.

PLEASE HELP!! Is my salesman being truthful with me? I need to know ASAP as the dealer incentive and low APR disappear Wednesday.

I have come to trust you folks. your assistance is GREATLY appreciated!!
