2000 2.3 Stereo, A couple questions (archive)

Alright, I know this has been asked multiple times, but a search through the archive didn't exactly yield the results I was looking for.
As most of you probably know the Upgraded HK Stereo in the Z3 is far from great. But with the 2000 Model year I've been having a tough time finding others that have replaced the sub in between the seats(it's a big 6" instead of two 5 1/4's, and the other speakers for that matter.

I was wondering if any of you out there have performed any modifications to your 2.3 Z's Stereo's. What have your success' and failures' been?

Currently I have replaced the head unit with an Alpine CDA-7864, and replaced the amp with a soundstream Lil' Wonder 5, also I had the whole audio system rewired with high quality 8-gauge. I've been really happy with the results(as far as clarity), but the low-end is just non-existent.

Now it's time to replace the speakers, and I need advice as to which one's have been the most succesful for you.

From what I've read in the archive, I saw one guy who placed an 8" Kicker in between the seats, in a custom enclosure, has anyone else done this? how succesful was it?

The trend for the two 5 1/4's in the footwell seems to be to buy 6.5 components, and use the tweeter that comes with it, to replace the factory tweeters. What success's have any of you had with this?

What about those 3" one's behind the seat? has anyone found any way to replace those with something better?

I'm trying to minimize the impact on the cars frame(no cutting). I would welcome any suggestions you may have!
