I have seen them come off with heat applied. It is really the only way and still have a chance to not screw up the surface underneath. You Want to keep it smooth for any new installation. You tend to see the ripples in the material if the surface underneath is not smooth. This is at least true of the carbon fiber, maybe not so much wood. Good luck, Dane.
