Terry's "drivel" is fact. The scanned BMW bulletin regarding this spec has been posted here numerous times. Given this loose tolerance it is more probable that your speedo will read that you are over the limiter, but that you aren't (unless you have somehow deactivated your limiter) And your speedo might read that you have hit what should be the limiter, but there will still be room to accelerate before you actually hit it.

I wish BMW would do something to make our speedos a little more accurate. I hate having to guess whether I am traveling fast enough. I consider it a safety issue, but I guess BMW doesn't.
