I work for the Auto Club. As I guess Public Schools no longer have a Driver's Ed for the kids, they have to seek it elsewhere. Well, we started up a program to teach the young kids of members (for a fee of course). I asked to apply, and my old boss from years ago (before I was in the IS dept, I was an Automotive Info Consultant) glared at me and said "I don't want you teaching the kids how to race" - end of story. A REAL shame too, cause I am sure I could have gotten the local SCCA Solo II folks to help along! I thought that if we DID teach them Solo II and get them interested in it, then it might prevent them from wanting to race on the streets. Whether as she said that I'd teach them to race or not, kids will be KIDS. So at least I would have taught them to survive better and think more with their heads than their feet.
