I was nervous, too, before I started. I had the advantage of starting with the BMWCCA in San Diego, where you get lots of practice laps and good instructors.

My advice would be to look for a day where there is a novice school or test&tune. Most of the SCCA regions have these early in the year. Just show up and make it known that you are new and would like an instructor. From there you'll be hooked.

If you can't find a novice school or test&tune, you can get an instructor at an SCCA event if you ask for one.

It really is easier to do than it looks, but it is harder than it looks to do well!
