Plenty of jobs, pay is excellent (depends on skill set and experience). Web development has become more like programming (Thank GOD!). Basic HTML web pages just down cut it any more (Anyone can do that). A good web developer will have the following skills:
Understanding of ANY Object oriented programming language. (E.G. JAVA, C++), Relational Databases, SQL, any server side scripting language like ASP, JSP. XML is the next big thing...But most importantly, learn to program... its too easy to steal code from the net. If you want the Microsoft path start with training for the MSDN exams 70-152 (there are books for this exam which will give you exposure to various MS web techologies). Or you have go the Java path...I recommend Java Servlet programming by O'Reilly publishing. Good Luck.

I'm looking to get into web developing. Any ideas, suggestions, tips to go about this? i'm looking to go to school for it, how long are are classes, what is the pay like, and is it easy to find jobs? thanks guys!!

Mike
