Well maybe, but OS's sure do. I was doing a disk defrag on my desktop machine yesterday when the stupid screen saver crashed and took the whole system down with it. I'm a sucker for Kliban cats & they did me in!
Anyway I rebooted and the DOS disk check program said there were like 1,000 cross linked files and all kinds of other problems. Well I dug in with Norton ZIP Rescue and a couple of hours later I got the system to boot, but a bunch of programs won't run. Doh...
Tim to get out the CD backup made using Norton Ghost, too bad it was 1/1/2001. Hey I was bored on the real millenium day. So now I'm writing this from the laptop while I'm restoring the 1/1/2001 disk image. It seems to be going fine, about 100 meg a minute but I could do without the error message every time it gets to the end of a CDR.
Anyway I just wanted to vent. If you get lots of snow tomorrow like the NE is supposed to, do a hard disk backup.
