get the surrounding area smooth, it's easy to take out too much paint. The product seems to be exponentially effective:) What seems to happen is that when you first start rubbing on the blob using the card, cloth and langka, it takes some time to soften the paint. Once softened, it removes paint rapidly. The good news is that it won't remove the old paint, so you don't have to be afraid of taking it down to the sheetmetal:):)

Practice using many thin coats of the color coat, use a toothpick or a griots chip dauber, or *anything* but the brush in the vial to apply the paint. Eventually, you won't be able to find your touch up spot, which to me, is the point of the whole exercise:)
