You can go to your local BMW dealter and purcahse BMW synthetic oil for about $3.00 a quart. Also, a filter should cost you around $6.00. So for about $27.00 you can change it yourself. It really is very easy, especially since the oil filter is located on the top of the engine.

Just curious on how much a normal oil change at the dealer cost for a 98 2.8L Z3. I believe several people had mentioned using the 5w30 synthetic oil. I live in FL so I don't know how the rates vary from different regions. Should I only take it to a BMW dealer as well? Or can I go to a Local Oil Change Shop?
